BIO

As a native Californian I have been fortunate to both live and work in the “golden state”.  A career in retail has permitted me to participate in developing merchandise and store design. The most fulfilling portion of my career has been the mentoring and coaching of the many young people that have been a part of my life.

Traveling all over the world was an important part of my career.  Shopping in a global market has given me a myriad of visual experiences.  Colorful street fairs, eclectic flea markets, and unique stores contributed to my aesthetic. Museums everywhere, especially contemporary or modern galleries have always enticed me.

Now retired, I have the freedom to paint and express my experiences and impressions in color and texture.  Travel, bridge and friendships enhance my life perspective.

Artist Statement

I began painting with the encouragement of a good friend. I draw on my design and color background developed during my former life in retail. I love doing abstract, collage and assemblage pieces.  For me, painting is all about expression of freedom and emotion. The color textures and application of found and/or reclaimed objects makes each piece special and unique. In doing this work, it is the diving into the unknown and the layers that represent the complexity of life.  I find I express the wild and courageous part of my life when painting.  My new life as an artist has been heart opening.
